Every day we all take risks - whether working alone, driving, enjoying sporting activities or leaving work late. However, when it comes to our personal safety we need to ensure that we can call for help when we need to.
That's why for anyone who works, lives or travels alone, the Skyguard Service has been designed to support you, giving you the reassurance and peace of mind you want. Should anything happen that threatens your personal safety, activation of the palm sized personal alarm - a Skyguard 500 - provides you with access to professional Controllers at Skyguard's 24 hour Emergency Response Centre (ERC): they will know who you are and where you are - usually to within 10 metres.
Through the use of GPS and GSM technology, the Skyguard will send a message with your position and identity to the ERC Controller, opening access to your personal and other vital details, provided on registration. 2-way communications enables the Controller to listen to what is going on, speaking only when it is safe to do so. With all the relevant information to hand the Controller can then assess and tackle the incident, requesting response in the most appropriate way which could be the emergency services or Skyguard's own national response service of over 800 vehicles.
Skyguard's existing customers include the BBC, police forces, a major hotel chain, security, logistic and facilities management companies. Established in 2000, the company is chaired by Lord Dear, former Chief Constable of the West Midlands Police.
