Silver Telecom develops innovative components for use in Ethernet and Telecommunication networks. Our Power over Ethernet (PoE) products are used to allow Ethernet equipment (powered device or PD) to derive power from the network rather than from the mains AC supply.

This confers enormous savings in the installation of the equipment, and as such system specifiers, resellers and installers are quickly becoming attracted to PoE enabled equipment. Silver Telecom's Power over Ethernet components include the PoE signature chip and fully integrated DC-DC converter needed to comply with the Power over Ethernet standard IEEE802.3af.

Applications for PoE include:

  • Door access systems
  • RFID readers
  • Biometric scanners
  • Building monitoring, automation and control
  • Sensors

In addition to these applications, Silver Telecom PoE modules are also used in other communications products such as IP telephones, Wireless access points and Point of sale terminals. New developments in PoE are being pioneered by Silver Telecom such as PoE plus components allowing up to 30W of power to be derived from the Ethernet.

These are pre IEEE802.3at standard, which is yet to be ratified, but Silver Telecom has released a PoE+ component that will inter-operate with other pre-standard products, whatever their configuration. Silver Telecom also produces class-leading PSTN interface components, SLIC and DAA products, for FXO and FXS solutions.
