Mobile Team Communications Set to Soar With Condor

Phonak Communications AG

Phonak has announced the world’s first truly hands-free secure wireless intercom system.

Condor provides any type of small group - from broadcast teams to film crews and security staff - with the ultimate in on-the-go communication flexibility.

Condor is a highly durable, license-free all-in-one solution. Produced by miniaturized hearing device specialist Phonak Communications of Murten, Switzerland, it is usable straight out of the box and comprises a palm-sized, easy-to-wear radio unit and the user’s choice of Phonak market-leading headset.

The Condor System

The Condor system liberates small teams – whether technical staff or set managers – by allowing up to six colleagues to communicate in full duplex mode (simultaneously talking and listening), without having to ever activate a ‘push-to-talk’ button.

Any number of additional colleagues can also listen in via the same closed network; and all of this over a secure channel.

Crucially for small teams that must remain fully mobile, Condor does not require connection to any form of base station and is therefore 100% free to move with the professionals wearing it.

Condor is also a red tape-free system; because it utilizes free-to-use frequencies, no licenses are required and the system can be deployed instantly wherever and whenever action is required.

Small, light, super-durable and comfortable to wear, Condor is flexible enough to perform in all types of environment: teams can communicate at distances of up to 800 meters; the system is quick to configure (with simple pairing and no PC required); and team managers can quickly and easily create the user-defined networks they require for simple, effective on-site communications.

“The Condor system’s mobility and flexibility offers teams of every type a genuinely unique solution”, said Evert Dijkstra, Managing Director of Phonak Communications. “One hundred percent mobile and with huge range, Condor suits any team that is looking to liberate its communications; whether camera or studio floor crew, site management or security team.”

Condor will be available from April 2009. The system is available in a rugged carry case, complete with charger unit. Individual Condor charger units are also available.
