New high level integrations with leading brand technologies along with significant extensions of the system's core functionality define Version 5.10, scheduled for release in July 2007.
Amongst its most notable features, Cardax FT V5.10 boasts a new high level integration with SAGEM fingerprint readers, providing seamless fingerprint enrolment and template management, all from within the Cardax FT user interface. Only the relevant fingerprint templates are sent to each reader, saving reader database space and cost. The readers immediately reflect schedule and access group changes in Cardax FT.
In addition, the integration allows the option for duress fingers to be enrolled for tighter security. "If a duress finger is presented at a reader, access is granted as per normal access privileges, but an alarm is raised in Cardax FT Command Centre to alert the operator of a duress situation; this is a significant feature for increased staff and site security," comments Daniel McVeagh, Product Manager - Cardax.
Advanced Cardax FT functionality including Anti-passback, Dual Authorisation, Zone Counting, Interlocking Doors and Controlled Challenge are all available with SAGEM fingerprint readers, providing comprehensive, full access control at the touch of a finger.
As an extension of the Cardax Reader range, Cardax FT Version 5.10 includes a newly developed integration with the Nedap Long Range automatic vehicle identification (AVI) system which enables driver and vehicle access control to be managed and monitored via Cardax FT Command Centre, the central control server of the Cardax FT system.

Driver based AVI tags offer fast, convenient and secure vehicle access for authorized drivers. This solution ensures that a vehicle can never leave, or get access to a secured area unless occupied by an authorized driver. A new Site Lockdown feature compliments anti-passback and anti-tailgating features of Cardax FT which are particularly relevant for high security sites.
It enables zone/s to be locked down during threat or emergency situations allowing only a selected group of staff to enter and exit lockdown zone/s. "These new features combine to enhance the powerful security functionality of Cardax FT to protect sites and facilities of national interest, critical infrastructure and for customers who have significant assets to protect" explains McVeagh.
New Cardax FT Controller functionality is another highlight of this release. The Cardax FT Controller Application Programme Interface (API) enables events from third party systems to be sent to and received from the Cardax FT Controller 3000 and Controller 5000GL. It is ideal for high level interfaces to third party system such as DVR, building management and duress systems.
Cardax FT Controller Logic provides the ability to trigger outputs based on programmable logic base rules. Potential uses include switching lighting for power efficiencies, setting alarm or fence zones or triggering alarms based on a number of variables occurring. All logic decisions take place at the controller and independent of the Cardax FT server, ensuring full protection against server or IT network failures.
In terms of hardware, Cardax FT Version 5.10 provides an additional expansion option in the form of a new High Density I/O Interface which supports 16 inputs and 16 outputs per board. "Developments in Cardax FT Version 5.10 are indicative of Gallagher Security Management Systems commitment to continually evolve and enhance the Cardax FT system - V5.10 further cements Cardax FT as the most scalable and versatile system in the industry," comments McVeagh.
