Effective February 1st, Assa Abloy ITG (ITG), the leading provider of ID management and RFID solutions, has joined the American Public Transport Association (APTA). The international association of 1,600 member organizations is the leading force in advancing public transport in North America.

With its broad portfolio and advanced technology ITG provides solutions that are specifically tailored to the converging markets of public transport and financial transactions supporting current and future enhancements like contactless automatic fare collection. As a business member ITG will present its latest products and solutions at the APTA Fare Collection Workshop in March.

In North America public transport companies have already started to collect fares automatically via contactless technologies. ITG, the merger of ACG, Omnikey, Sokymat, VisionCard and Novacard do Brasil, supports this change with leading technologies and products like NFC (Near Field Communication) and advanced MasterCard PayPass enabled tags and readers.

The latest trends and developments in fare collection and revenue management will be discussed at the APTA Fare Collection Workshop, March 25-28, 2007, Los Angeles. As a member of APTA, ITG will also be represented.

"The APTA membership allows us to meet and network with industry representatives from throughout North America," says René van Ryt, Head of the Public Transport Business Segment of Assa Abloy ITG. "We consider it a unique platform to raise our visibility and strengthen our reputation in this important market."
