SubscribeThe Swedish packaging company, Nefab, has developed a new type of collapsible transport packaging for valuable goods.
This new product is a response to the market’s need and desire for a low cost, low weight, high strength packaging solution, which at the same time provides good theft protection in transit and reduces the pack space needed in the factory. The new design has proved highly successful, and the company has applied for a Worldwide patent.
The safety container consists of a collapsible container made of corrugated cardboard which is attached to a wooden pallet. The container is highly stable, which is achieved through the choice of materials and the functional design. The inner construction complements the outer framework and adds extra strength to the box. In total, the goods inside are protected by three layers of corrugated board. The design can cope with loads of up to 500 kg and has a stacking capacity of three units, equivalent to approx. 1500 kg.
“Low cost, low weight, high level of stability and durability, combined with the fact that it is space saving and provides good protection against theft, makes this a superior solution. Even repacking is possible, to an extent, which makes this container interesting to a wide audience,” says Bo Angelstrand, Director of Sales & Marketing, Nefab AB.
Reduced Costs
When collapsed, the inner and outer walls of the container are folded together and covered by the lid which takes up less volume than a corrugated container of similar specification, though offering 
the same strength with a lower weight. The benefits of reduced volume and weight will, according to the company, assist the user in reducing costs through lower freight charges. It also allows space to be saved when storing the container.
“Since the safety container is already fitted onto the loading pallet, it is very easy to assemble for loading by the means of a few simple operations. Once loaded, the container is secured by its lid,” concludes Bo Angelstrand.
