National Firefighter Selection Physical Test Equipment.

Minerva Simulator Facilities Ltd

In February 2006 the ODPM (Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) now known as DCLG (Department of Communities and Local Government) issued a specification document relating to National Firefighter Selection to all Fire Fighting Authorities in the UK.

Purpose
The purpose of the facility is to provide a National Standard of Training Equipment to administer Fire Fighter Selection Physical Tests.

The facility must be designed and fabricated to the Governments strictly controlled specification for the internal size and layout of the required exercise.

MSF Ltd Designed, Manufactured and delivered a unit to West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Services in December 2006.

Main Housing
The facility is constructed on a 'Prime Mover' sub-frame offering a steel box work frame that is covered in 'Coachwork' style cladding for aesthetics and is painted to the client's specification externally and internally. It also has an extendable pod of identical manufacture.

The pod is wound out from the offside on a rack & pinion system using a detachable handle.
Levelling jacks are situated in all four corners of the main body unit offering stability on uneven surfaces.

Caged Exercise
The caged 'crawl' run is constructed of boxed mild steel with wire mesh sides to offer good visibility of candidates at during the exercise. This part of the exercise is installed within the extendable `pod' section. All accessible side panels can be easily removed to vacate the candidate should there prove to be a problem.

The caged 'walk' run is also constructed of boxed mild steel with wire mesh in-fills and is modular in construction, supported from a matrix hanging frame within the fixed unit which are secured and stowed at the ends of the closed unit for transport. All the cage sections are painted `matt' black in colour.

The closed unit has adequate storage space to the rear, for additional equipment required for the exercise.

MSF Ltd can provide the above as a fixed installation in container style units, within an existing Fire Training Building at the Authorities own base or as a self assembly modular scenario.
