What can you say about the first 30 years of Saima?

Paolo MorettiThirty years have already passed! By the time I arrived in Saima, I had been worked for many years in a very organized multinational company, where there was only a beautiful industrial warehouse in the finishing phase.

There was no product, market or structures. Nevertheless, I was enthusiast and my only desire was to test, to compare myself with the world. It is not easy to find the opportunity to do that. I have to thank who in those years gave me this opportunity even though I think I deserved it.

30 years of activity for Saima! An important  moment, an important goal: now, it is right to stress the improvements of the company. We started with a single product, and today we are leader in more activities and markets. Sicurezza, Meccanica and Mesa are the important references of SAIMA in the relating markets, and the rival firms try to get indications on development imitating us.

Which were the most important satisfactions?
The greatest satisfaction consists in having transformed our beginning production made of agricultural equipping into an industrial reality, which has gained international and hard markets thanks to innovation and technology. We have equipped with our so-called “booths” (i.e. security doors) a lot of important places: sports grounds, more than 60% of national banks, the entrances at Cern (Geneva) as well as federal offices in U.S Recently, we have received the task to supply the Rome underground with our turnstiles. The comparison with multinational companies is a source of pride and satisfaction. We are famous in the field of painting systems (the “furnaces”) and electronics as well. Our companies, with no competitions among them, are getting the leadership in their relating sectors. Finally, the greatest satisfaction consists also in having motivated the members of our team and having allowed each of them to give his contribution in the creation of a serene atmosphere and excellent job results.

Any mistakes on the way?
Sure, during 30 years of activity it is normal, but never so determining. The company has never lost sight of the “core business”. Only when we have tried to look for different activities we have not achieved complete satisfaction. We regret not being able to do all we could have done. But, in this way, we have avoided big mistakes.

And what about the next 30 years?
During next thirty years our sons will be engaged in managing the enterprises. We hope they will get on at well together as well as they could form a real team. With these assumptions, in spite of possible tension and decrease phases, they will be able to surpass us and improve our performances.
