Managing CCTV and IP Security Devices with EVIS

J2K Video Limited

Creating an easy to use security management solution just got easier with the introduction of EVIS by J2K Video Limited.

CCTV and IP Security Device Management

Enterprise Video Integration System (EVIS) has been developed over the past 5 years in real world applications and allows system providers to quickly build a solution for CCTV and IP security devices. Operators can work more efficiently by having access and control of the entire security system on a single platform, for example viewing video associated with an alarm event is a single button operation or can be fully automated for instant results.

Enterprise Video Integration System

EVIS consists of a comprehensive set of plug-in modules that allow security systems such as CCTV, access control and alarms to be integrated into one easy to use operators console that can be either a Windows, Apple MAC or dedicated workstation PC.Enterprise Video Integration System

Multi-Megapixel / JPEG2000 Video Compression Standards

Designed with an application framework at it's core, integration and functionality is provided by addition of specific plug-in modules that can be linked together by high level drag and drop actions or simple macro scripting. The framework supports the decoding of all major video compression standards including multi-megapixel, H.264, MPEG2, MPEG4, MJPEG, JPEG2000, Wavelet with no restrictions on the resolution of video nor the number and types of channels handled simultaneously.

Open Process Control

EVIS includes full 2-way audio for managing intercoms, audio alarms and voice messaging and can be used as a client for Open Process Control (OPC) servers devices, thereby providing a potential for integration with industrial process control equipment.

Key plug-in modules include the Back-Up manager, for archiving video clips and vital evidence with the ability to export to other formats such as .avi, .mov and DVD-Video. The Site-Map manager provides a graphical mapping based user interface that allows operators to follow suspects around a large area and minimises errors during camera selection. PTZ integration into Site-Map further enhances the system by removing manual control and reliance on the operator.

Ultra High Definition Video / Multi-Megapixel Cameras

Particular emphasis has been made on supporting emerging technologies such as multi-megapixel video cameras and video analytics software. Today EVIS has the most sophisticated functionality for the review and management of ultra high definition video and leads the industry with a practical feature set that is aimed at forensic analysis needs that will arise when systems are upgraded with multi-megapixel cameras.EVIS Screen

The framework includes tools that will integrate with facial recognition and object tracking algorithms as well as ANPR and intelligent motion detection systems. Specialist de-warping software has been integrated to allow correction for the fisheye effect of wide angle lens.

Highly configurable and scalable

Since functionality is contained within each plug-in module, large systems can be quickly configured, using an array of modules and later altered as the system design changes. There are no limits to the number of users, cameras, servers or other security devices that can be managed with EVIS. This provides great flexibility during system installation and commissioning.

With no limits on the number of devices each module supports, users can take comfort in the fact that the platform will remain stable even with the addition of say hundreds of cameras, alarms and / or digital recorders from another manufacturer. Plug-in modules are available for major manufacturers including Arecont, Axis, Barix, GE, IQEye, JVC, Lumenera, Panasonic, Pelco, Siemens, Sony, Wavelet Technology.

Future proof

EVIS has been developed using open standards and allows integration of third party devices without affecting the existing platform. The framework can decode all known video compression standards and file formats through the use of commonly available open source codecs.

Tried and Tested on CCTV Security Installations Worldwide

EVIS Screen EVIS is currently in use at several large CCTV security installations worldwide, including:

  • Vodaphone (Milan), where a large number of cameras use EVIS to display all channels on a single screen.
  • Unilever R+D (Rotterdam), integration of the CCTV with barrier entry system, intercoms and fire alarm system has been performed using EVIS. Site security guards use hand held PDA devices running EVIS-Lite whilst on foot patrol.
  • Simpson Thacher and Bartlett LLP (London), use EVIS for integration of the CCTV with their access control system.
  • George Watson College (Edinburgh), Britain's largest private school use the MAC OSX version of EVIS to manage a complete IP based CCTV system that includes megapixel cameras.
  • Aljarafe Casino (Seville) use EVIS to manage the entire casinos CCTV cameras and video recorders including automated PTZ control with site mapping and alarm integration of certain gaming machines.
