A Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI), also sometimes called Vapour Phase Inhibitor (VPI), is a method of corrosion protection.
The inhibiting process begins when the protective vapours disseminate in an enclosed space (through vaporisation) where a thin layer is created on the metal surface. The protection remains as long as the product is in the enclosed space.
Once the content is removed from the package, the VCI layer re-volatilises, leaving a dry and corrosion-free product.
Nefab works with VCI free from nitrites giving a major environmental advantage.
- VCI can be provided in the following forms:
- paper
- PE-foam
- bags
- emitter cups
- cardboard
Through its long experience in the packaging industry, Nefab can provide the most suitable corrosion protection system for each customer application.
