Ahura Corporation's award winning First Defender, handheld chemical identification system has a Federal Supply Schedule contract from the General Services Administration (GSA), simplifying procurement for federal agencies and other customers with authorization to purchase from the Federal Supply System.

The GSA Schedules Program allows commercial firms to provide supplies and services at stated prices for given periods of time.

Ahura's contract under GSA Schedule 66, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Clinical Instruments, General Purpose Laboratory Instruments and Services, is for the contract period September 29, 2005 - September 29, 2010. GSA contract awards enable government agencies to more easily purchase from contract holders, by simplifying procurement procedures, eliminating the need for RFPs, reducing lead times and lowering administrative costs. Ahura Corporation's GSA contract number is GS-07F-6099R (Schedule 066).

First Defender is a rugged handheld Raman instrument used for the instantaneous identification of unknown liquids and solids by military and civilian first responders. It is designed to the rigorous requirements of the military and optimized to the needs of civilian first responders.

FirstDefender is deployed across many federal agencies including the U.S. Army, U.S. Customs and Immigration, U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Hazmat teams across the country ranging from Fire Department of New York, Washington DC, Orlando and Seattle are actively using it.

It is being used by law enforcement from the State Police of New Jersey to the Los Angeles Police Department. Customers in Europe, Asia and Australia are also using FirstDefender because of its accuracy, usability and affordable price.
