Joint project of Regula (Belarus) and Luminescence (UK)

Regula Ltd

Regula and Luminescence have come into agreement and produced a new security feature QFX and a special verification device Regula model 1017.

This new security feature produces four different fluorescent colours from one printed ink. The ink is invisible in normal light but fluoresces:

  • yellow/green in 254 nm short-wave UV light;
  • red in 313 nm mid-wave UV light
  • blue in 365 nm long-wave UV light
  • green in 980 nm upper infrared light.

Because of the narrow bandwidths of these colours and the distinctiveness of each shade, the QFX feature would be extremely hard to replicate. It also offers the possibility of having 4 levels of security in one printing application.

By using a special verification device from Regula each element of the QFX ink can be easily verified using one simple compact reader.

The ink is most effective when printed by flexo or screen but can be produced for offset and letterpress applications. All the components of the QFX feature have good resistance making it ideally suited to high security, long-term documents such as ID cards and passport.

Generally this project is an example of fruitful cooperation between security printing company and manufacturer of verification equipment when the end-user gets full solution of security feature and efficient equipment.
