Aragon (Castilian and Aragonese: Aragón, Catalan: Aragó) is an autonomous community of northeastern Spain.
Its official name in Spanish is the "Comunidad Autónoma de Aragón." It has an area of 47,719 km² (18,424 mi²) with a population of 1,217,514 (2003). Aragon is bounded on the north by France, on the east by Catalonia, on the south by Valencia, and on the west by Castile-La Mancha, Castile-Leon, La Rioja, and Navarre.
Aragon has a low population density, and therefore there are large, almost deserted spaces. More than half the population live in Zaragoza. The Pyrenees of Aragon include the greatest peaks and most secluded valleys, some of which are very difficult to access and have retained unspoiled beauty. Its far spread population and the difficulty to reach certain regions were the most important reasons for the implementation of a central emergency center in Aragon. In 1997 one of the first uniform emergency hotlines was put into service.
The European standard emergency call 112, connects the citizens of Aragon with the central emergency center, from where the relevant services are coordinated. For a better survey of the incoming calls and for a better coordination of the concerned operational services, the county of Aragon decided to install a video wall from eyevis into the emergency call center to guarantee a perfect visualisation of the required information. Together with our Spanish partner, the Floria-Group, we were able to create a coherent system for the coordination of the emergency staff.
The data from more than 20 signal sources can be displayed on the video wall simultaneously. The large screen display is composed of 6 modular rear-projection cubes that create a continuous display with minimal gaps between the individual units. These cubes are very reliable and predestined for continuous operation in 24/7-mode. The system is completed by an eyevis netpix controller that controls the wall and the eyevis wall management software eyecon.
The installation contains the following eyevis components:
- 6 x EC-67-XC (rear-projection cubes with 67" screendiagonal and XGA resolution).
- 1 x NPX-2106-V16-L1 (graphic controller).
- 1 x eyecon Basic (wall management software).
