CMP Information

CMP Information is pleased to announce a record number of people attended IFSEC 2007, when it took place from 21-24 May 2007 at the NEC, Birmingham, UK.

The world's leading annual security event attracted 32,368* security professionals from a range of blue chip companies including Tesco, Capita, Lloyds TSB, Mclaren, Sainsbury's and South West Trains, as well as the NHS and the European Commission.

"To achieve visitor figures like this is phenomenal and truly reflective of the show's global appeal," explains James Blue, IFSEC Event Director. "IFSEC has a strong, award-winning team behind it who, together with pro-active exhibitors and a first class educational programme have been able to provide the industry with an event that really addresses the pertinent issues."

Opening the event and attending IFSEC for the first time, Baroness Ruth Henig, Chair of the Security Industry Association said "I've learned enough since January to appreciate that IFSEC is an essential stage of my security education. There is general agreement that this is the world's leading annual security event, covering 100,000 square metres, nine exhibition halls and over 1000 companies from over 40 countries. I am looking forward to seeing as much of the exhibition as I can, and I am enormously grateful to all those who have invited me here for giving me the opportunity to come and network and to see all the latest technology and security solutions."

As well as providing visitors with a wide variety of the latest products and services to hit the market, IFSEC 2007 also presented a comprehensive educational programme. A series of three themed seminar theatres offered visitors free seminar sessions on everything from counter terrorism strategy to the latest command and control software, to IP cameras.

In one of the most popular seminar sessions, The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) along with some of the experts involved with the London 2012 Olympics, highlighted the issues presented by the Olympics for the private security industry, including problems such as biometric technology, identity fraud and the use of detector-activated, remotely monitored CCTV. A number of high profile speakers presented at the session, including Andrew Amery on behalf of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) and Tarique Ghaffur, Assistant Commissioner for the Metropolitan Police.

IFSEC 2007 also included a number of brand new feature areas. The Police & Public Security feature, planned with a variety of industry experts, proved a massive success with visitors who were able to explore and compare the variety of products and services available to them, as well as network with colleagues. The Physical Security area, an exciting new feature area for 2007, catered specifically for those involved in perimeter protection, locking systems, safes and other physical security measures.

Feedback from the exhibitors at IFSEC 2007 clearly demonstrates the event's success:
