PW Allen's Special Operations solutions are in the bag

Allen Vanguard

PW Allen has come up with the perfect solution for security professionals in the field with its three Special Operations (SO) kits.

The SO ‘Hook & Line (HAL)’, ‘search’ and ‘tool’ kits are compact but comprehensive ranges of equipment in custom-made backpacks that combine comfortable ergonomic design with highly practical storage.

They are ideal for field professionals who need to be prepared for any eventuality, which means having a wide choice of specialised equipment ready to hand, even under hostile tactical conditions.

Each component of the kits can be securely stowed in dedicated pockets of the lightweight backpack, which means they can be retrieved and deployed extremely quickly.

As no operation is the same, the stowage pockets inside the main compartment are removable and can be easily reconfigured by the user to reflect individual requirements.

The mesh fronts on each pocket allow easy recognition and swift access to all items so that valuable time is not wasted rummaging for equipment.

SO HAL Kit

Since it was first used by the British armed forces in 1972, HAL has become the world’s leading and most effective system for remote access and clearance of IEDs and other hazardous devices.

Incorporating HAL into an SO kit is the latest advance which makes it faster and easier to use in the field.

The backpack provides dedicated stowage for the comprehensive rigging kit as well as other essential EOD/IEDD items, which the operator may wish to add, such as a disruptor with firing cable and exploder.

Up to 100 metres (325ft) of high-strength low-stretch line is carried in a detachable pocket attached to the side of the backpack. Other features include external pockets for a telescopic mirror and a small tool kit.

The SO HAL Kit uses tried-and-tested components from the extensive Allen Hook and Line equipment range. Other items, such as conventional disruptive weapons and equipment, can be added to the standard kit to provide tailor-made capability for specific client requirements.

SO Tool Kit

Designed with help from ex-British EOD/IEDD Special Forces personnel, the layout of the SO Tool Kit offers the capabilities for search, access, diagnostics and render-safe. It is based on tool set grouping and operational precedents but this can be changed at the user’s discretion.

Search tools include a head torch, mini and large hand torch, binoculars and metal detector.

For access, there is a cordless drill, cordless dremel, and knives from scalpels to heavy-duty, saws, nibbler and gas-powered hot knife.

Diagnostics tools include multimetre and diagnostics cabling attachments, electrician’s probes, hook retrieval equipment, inspection and pick-up tooling, consumable components for diagnostic work, cordless glue gun and a range of adhesives.

For render-safe operations, the kit has screwdrivers, socket and wrench sets, pliers, file sets, layout matting, hammer, lifters, wrench bar, electrician’s tools, strippers, test equipment and tweezers.

In addition, the backpack has been designed to include some free space allowing a bomb tech to carry some of their personal equipment.

PW Allen recommends that bomb techs deploying with the SO Tool Kit also deploy with the Allen SO Disruptor Kit. This supplementary kit includes IEDD disruptors, cartridges, a special operations firing cable for use in tactical environments and a firing device that will all fit into and alongside the tools in the backpack

All the tools have been selected for their quality and reliability, with several offering multi-role capability to reduce the total.

SO Search Kit

The search kit has been designed in conjunction with the British armed forces and police personnel and contains search mirrors, metal detector, torches, sealing equipment, visual aids, protective clothing, tooling and access equipment.

The items are stowed in a way that gives access to the right grouping of components quickly and easily and there is extra capacity for personal equipment.
