PW Allen contraband detector gives tactical advantage to counter-drug teams

PW Allen is assisting the US and Canadian governments in their counter-drug and border protection programmes, including support to major anti-narcotics initiatives in South America.

The UK-based company is supplying Merlin133  contraband detectors to help customs and security officers find and seize tons of illicit drugs intended primarily for the North American market. Drug trafficking is one of the most significant border security issues in the region.

PW Allen was invited to tender for the US and Canadian government programmes on the back of its reputation as a manufacturer and supplier of top quality contraband and security search equipment. It won the contracts against strong international competition.

“The ability to detect illicit material being smuggled across borders is an essential part of homeland security,” commented Roy Peers-Smith, managing director of PW Allen. “In a short period Merlin contraband detectors have made a significant contribution to protecting North America from various threats, particularly illegal drug trafficking.  Our equipment is already in widespread use throughout the world and it’s great that these US and Canadian authorities have recognised our expertise and competitive pricing.”

Merlin133  contraband detectors are part of a range of specialised search equipment developed and manufactured in the UK by PW Allen for use by customs and security authorities around the world.
