FACT: There are more property insurance claims due to damage by water leakage, temperature extremes, improper humidity, and power failure annually than by burglary or fire.

Whether it is a residential, commercial or industrial application, critical environment monitoring has been a missing link in security systems installed worldwide. When most property owners think of security, the idea of burglary and fire pop into their heads. They don't realize that the critical environment that surrounds them can rob them just as any burglar can by causing damaged facilities and equipment, ruined inventory, expensive clean-ups, safety hazards, loss of records, etc., which can result in insurance hikes.

Critical environments are all around us and mean something different to everyone.

  • To the homeowner it is devastating to walk into their home and be standing ankle deep in water due to a washing machine hose bursting or that a circuit breaker shut off preventing the sump pump from running. Similarly, if a water leak occurred in an apartment building numerous residences would be affected and the damage is multiplied over and over.
  • The convenience or grocery store owner loses thousands of dollars of frozen goods or produce because a cooler malfunctions in the middle of the night.
  • A server in a computer room goes down due to improper temperature or humidity levels.
  • A restaurant loses all their fresh lobster because the temperature control malfunctioned in the tank or the walk in food storage cooler compressor fails and all the food has to be thrown in the garbage.
  • An incubator in a lab fails and valuable cultures are lost.

These are just a few scenarios that could have been prevented if the proper environmental monitoring device was in place to alarm and inform the customer.

Critical environment monitoring is as important as a motion detector or smoke alarm when it comes to providing a complete security system for any application.
