The Barix Wolf-Net system is the next generation in audio surveillance technology and could be classified as “Audio surveillance over IP”.

The Barix solution uses an embedded network connection in the device to transmit the recorded audio over standard network infrastructure and the Internet in real-time.

Conventional audio surveillance systems have limited distances between surveillance points and listening stations because of the wiring limitations, radio transmission range or satellite coverage. The Wolf-Net is not limited by any of these factors allowing it to be installed almost anywhere worldwide, offering a globally distributed audio surveillance network.

Another important factor of the Wolf-Net is that it does not require a PC to be operated at the surveillance point, and makes it optional to use either a PC or Barix component as the listening station since all of the system's Intelligence is running within the stand-alone components themselves.

The PC-Free solution is ideal for important installations that require the utmost in reliability since the components are low profile, low power consuming, robust, and most importantly maintenance free, meaning that they will not crash as computers often do.

The Barix Wolf-Net audio surveillance system is built for commercial, industrial, security, law enforcement and military applications, due to its universal network functionality and high degree of reliability. The system has also been known to ideally complement IP network security camera set-ups that lack the audio feed. The Wolf-Net can also be configured to record the audio to a hard drive to build up an audio archive database of all the recordings.

The Barix Wolf-Net can be pieced together, as in building blocks, with multiple surveillance points and listening stations, and with a variety of different Barix components depending on the application.

  • Instreamer (surveillance point) to Exstreamer (listening station) for component to component streaming.
  • Instreamer (surveillance point) to PC using 3rd party software (listening station) for component to PC streaming.
  • Annuncicom (surveillance point) to Annuncicom (listening station) for component to component streaming with additional intercom functionality.

* If no network connection is available at the surveillance point, the Net-Wolf can be configured with 3rd party hardware products such as wireless bridges, to access local and public wireless networks, and even dial-up routers to utilize the telephone lines.
