Protect Your Buildings and Contents with Net2 Intelligent Access Control
Control and monitor who has access to your building
Paxton Access Ltd is the UK’s leading manufacturer of access control systems. Their flagship system Net2 is widely regarded as the benchmark for networked access control. Perfect for sites of all sizes Net2 offers a high level of security, user traceability, centralised control and installation flexibility.
By controlling who has access to a building and when, Net2 keeps buildings, staff and assets safe. Obvious threats like thieves and vandals are kept out, while employees and genuine visitors are restricted to designated areas. Single door architecture, colour coded wiring labels and diagnostic LED’s make specifying, installing and maintaining the system easy.
Intelligent Access Control System Software
Net2 Standard software is free and is exceptionally straightforward to use
Net2 can control hundreds of doors across multiple sites for up to 10,000 users. The standard version of the Net2 intelligent access control system software, which is free, has all the features that most organisations will require. In addition Time and Attendance monitoring, site graphics and Net2 card designer are also included. Training requirements for system users are minimal; the familiar interface and intuitive administration mean that a new administrator can be fully competent in less than two hours of training. All future software upgrades are also free.
Flexible control over users’ access rights
Users can be added or barred from the system within seconds. Access permissions can be set individually or for departments, allowing and denying access through doors within specific time frames. They can be set up so that users are restricted to areas specific to their work, and for hours relevant to their working day. A ‘visitor’ group is commonly configured as a department. The ‘departments’ feature is exceptionally useful for organisations with a high number of users. Instead of entering access permissions for each individual, a new user can be assigned to a department with preset permissions saving the administrator time.
The Net2 access control software is not restricted by per seat licenses. This means it can be loaded onto multiple work stations to make it easier to administer the system. For example, a receptionist may manage visitors on a daily basis such as issuing access tokens, while a manager may set up detailed access privileges for their department.
Investigate access events in seconds
As well as restricting people to designated areas around a site Net2 also records each access event. As with all networked access control systems this creates a lot of data. However, Net2’s use of intuitive filters to locate specific events efficiently is what sets it apart from other systems. Event information can be targeted in less than a couple of seconds and viewed ‘live’ in the event log without the need to generate a report.
Proximity Readers and Keypads
Unlock access controlled doors without presenting a token
Net2 has been designed with scalability in mind. Its retrofit capabilities mean that doors can be added to the system ‘as’ and ‘when’ security needs change. Proximity readers can also be ‘hands free’ enabled retrospectively. Hands free access means that a user’s token (Hands free keyfob/keycard) is read from their pocket/handbag without them having to present a token to a reader. This offers total convenience and can help a site to conform to regulations as laid out in the disability discrimination act. Due to the equipment’s retrofit capabilities doors can be hands free enabled in order of priority.
A range of stylish and functional readers and keypads to choose from
Paxton Access also produces a range of innovative readers and keypads for use with Net2. For example, the Architectural reader gives building design professionals the opportunity to customise the look of each reader around a site to match the surrounding décor. Although encouraging tailored finishes, the Architectural reader retains the hallmark of Paxton Access' build quality and reliability.
The ‘Rolls Royce’ of proximity readers
The PROXIMITY Marine reader is probably the most stylish reader on the market to date. Constructed from marine grade stainless steel, its bezel is lit by an inner and outer circle of blue light. This halo effect changes colour to denote access permissions; flashing green for access granted and red for access denied. Originally designed for yachts and harsh weather environments this reader will adorn any modern office or design-led environment.
Reduce expenditure on energy
The Energy saving reader, as its name suggests, can help a site to minimise energy waste. The reader allows anything electrical to be switched on or off using an authorised proximity card. This can be used to great effect with lighting, air conditioning and other electrical equipment.
CCTV Camera Access Control
View video footage directly from Net2
Net2 readily integrates with intruder alarms to help prevent false alarms. The software can also control a variety of building services such as lights and air-conditioning. Net2’s compatibility with Milestone’s XProtect and Dedicated Micros’ NetVu software provides a reliable integrated security solution. While Net2 records each access event CCTV cameras trained at the doors record the associated footage. Events with supporting footage have a camera icon next to them in the Net2 event log. When these are clicked on the associated footage appears in a pop up box. Integration gives the advantage of access control and CCTV but with only one interface to monitor.
Installing Net2 access control will be even easier
Paxton Access currently has a host of new products under development. These include two new additions to the control unit family that will make installing Net2 even easier, a stylish proximity reader, Vandal resistant metal keypad and more. Net2 plus control units take advantage of an existing Ethernet network to communicate with the Net2 server PC. This replaces a dedicated data cable so reduces installation times greatly. In addition Net2 plus control units can support an RS485 daisy chain of Net2 classic.
Net2 nano use secure wireless technology to communicate with the main server PC via either a Net2Air USB or Net2Air Ethernet Bridge. The USB Bridge connects directly to the server PC and has a wireless range of up to 30m (typically 10m), perfect for smaller access controlled sites. The Net2Air Ethernet Bridge has the same wireless range but can extend the capability of Net2 nano via existing LAN/WAN Ethernet ports. Not having to install a dedicated data cable reduces costs and installation time. The new additions along with the Net2 classic control unit means that installers can now choose the most convenient way to secure each door with Net2.
A reader with a built in LCD display for images and logos of your choice
The PROXIMITY LCD reader has a high quality display that allows an organisation to display up to four images of choice. This may include a company name and logo and is a great way to project a sophisticated image to clients and other visitors. The Vandal resistant metal keypad has been developed to withstand abuse and is perfect for use in outside areas that may be susceptible to vandalism.
An enormous 5 year guarantee on all products
All equipment from Paxton Access is protected with a 5 year guarantee. This reflects their confidence in the build quality of all their systems including Net2.
